The city government of Kabankalan has decided to scrap its tribal activities for the city’s celebration of this year’s Sinulog Festival due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on information released by the city government yesterday morning, Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco called for a meeting on Thursday night with Kabankalan Sinulog Foundation Chairman Demetrio Ruiz which resulted in the scrapping of the tribal activities.
Meanwhile, the Novenario Masses for the feast day of Señor Sto. Niño had already begun yesterday afternoon at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and will last until January 17.
Zayco and the Diocese of Kabankalan called on the faithful in the city to follow the health protocols when inside the church such as wearing of face masks and face shield and observing physical distancing./DGB, WDJ
