P8M ‘shabu’ siezed in Oton, Iloilo

A 30-year-old woman yielded P8 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation around 2:00 a.m. yesterday at Barangay San Antonio in Iloilo province’s Oton town. 

Authorities identified the suspect as Mary Joy Villarina, a resident of B5, L9, Deca Homes Subdivision in Barangay Pandac, Pavia town.

Officers of the Oton Police Station Drug Enforcement Team, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit confiscated five big heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 500 grams; P9,000 in buy-bust money; and cash believed to be proceeds of illegal drugs.

Also recovered from the suspect were blue sling bag, one rolled paper bag, black wallet, identification cards, ATM cards, receipts, alcohol, lighter, sim cards, candies, ballpen, and a motorcycle without plate number.

Police Staff Sgt. Daisy Abono said Villarina is now detained at the Oton Police station. She will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./WDJ
