Thomas Bryant scored on a go-ahead dunk as Washington Wizards pulled off a 123-122 upset over Brooklyn Nets in the 2020-2021 NBA Season on Sunday night (Monday in the Philippines) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Trailing 121-122, Bryant surged the Wizards ahead at 123-122 on a dunk with 14 seconds left. The Nets had two chances to win it but Kyrie Irving misfired his triple and Kevin Durant also missed from 12 feet.
Bryant finished the match with double-double 21 points and 14 rebounds as the Wizards recorded its second consecutive win after opening the season with five straight losses.
Bradley Beal led the way with 27 points, 10 rebounds and five assists and Russell Westbrook chipped in 24 points, 10 assists and five rebounds for the Wizards.
Irving tallied 30 points, 10 assists and five rebounds, while Durant added double-double 28 points and 11 rebounds as the slumping Nets dropped to 3-4 slate.
Meanwhile, Jason Tatum rose in the occasion on both ends of the court in the endgame as Boston Celtics (4-3) escaped with a 122-120 victory over Detroit Pistons (1-5).
Tatum surged the Celtics ahead for good with a game-winning basket with 2.9 seconds left before coming up with a block on the three-point try by Pistons’ Blake Griffin to escape with a win.
Defending champions Los Angeles Lakers (5-2) leaned on LeBron James’ exploits in the fourth quarter for a 108-94 rout of Memphis Grizzlies (2-4). James finished the match with 22 points.
