PRO-6 spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong said enhanced police presence means intensifying the conduct of foot and mobile patrol in areas or times where police assistance is needed especially in all churches.

Malong said there will be policemen inside and outside of the church to ensure that the churchgoers observe the health protocols.

“Strict implementation of Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (MEID) guidelines and protocols will be enforced to ensure the containment of coronavirus 2019,” Malong said.

She added that police assistance hubs will be placed in different strategic areas and there will be series of checkpoint operations.

Malong said police units were instructed to coordinate with barangay officials in monitoring crimes that might take place during the nine-day dawn masses.

All intelligence officers will also beef up the police presence to monitor the movement of thieves and robbers.

“We have to remind all churchgoers to take care of their valuables when attending the mass. Do not place your bags at your back, put your bags at your front because lawless elements will be taking advantage of the situation. We should not give them an opportunity to victimize you,” Malong added./WDJ
