Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas announced that the city’s loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has been approved already.
Treñas, during Monday’s flag raising ceremony, said the loan amounting to P1.750 billion will be used for the repair and improvement of the city-run La Paz, Jaro Big, Mandurriao, and Arevalo public markets.
“We’re given a loan of P1.750 billion. Ano na usaran? Ang mga markets ta bala kay kalain na gid ‘no? Gadanaw, basa imo tiil kon magsulod ka da, madulom,” Treñas said.
Aside from the public markets, part of the loan will also be used to fund the construction of the Iloilo City Hospital.
The city mayor also added that city will construct a 7-storey parking building besides the Iloilo City Hall, wherein the 7th floor will serve as multi-purpose hall.
“Para kon maga-meeting…indi na kita magkadto sa aton Jubillee Hall, may taytay lang kita nga ibutang dira,” said Treñas.
The parking building will be specifically located at the current location of the DBP which will later move to its own property nearby.
On the other hand, Treñas also announced that the proposed 7-storey city’s legislative building will have its groundbreaking before this year ends.
Likewise, tomorrow there will be a groundbreaking for the construction of the Lopez Jaena Shrine in Jaro district.
“Kadugay-dugay na na nga waay gid naobra. Finally, may pundo kita nga nakita, ipaobra naman na naton,” the city mayor disclosed.
“Nalipay ko sa panikasog sang aton finance committee, especially sang aton city treasurer who has done a lot of good to us. Tanan nga opisina nagatinguha man sang ila obra para ang collection ta maayo ilabi na gid subong nga kapigado gid,” Treñas added./WDJ
