The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) has been placed on high alert status starting yesterday ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
NOPPO director Police Colonel Romy Palgue said even with the current COVID-19 pandemic, they are still expecting people flocking in places of convergence such as churches and shopping malls.
Palgue said all police stations and other units have already received their operational plans for the holidays, and resources have already been put in place.
The NOPPO director urged the cooperation of the public from security to health protocols.
Police stations in the province have also been ordered to setup their police assistance desks in strategic areas.
NOPPO will also receive a police augmentation of at least one company from Police Regional Office 6.
“We are encouraging the people of Negros Occidental to help us bring a peaceful and well-meaning celebration of Christmas in the province,” Palgue added./DGB, WDJ
