Bago City in Negros Occidental is Department of Agriculture’s top rice-producing city in Western Visayas for 2019.

This was revealed by Bago City agriculturist Carlito Indencia to Mayor Nicholas Yulo after the announcement came out earlier this week.

This is the third straight year (2017, 2018 and 2019) that the “Rice Granary of Negros Occidental” has been recognized as one of the top rice-producing local government units in the country.

Moreover, Indencia is Agricultural Extension Worker awardee and a grand slam winner for being recognized in the said award category for three straight years as well.

The Rice Achievers Awards is an annual event of the Department of Agriculture that recognizes the efforts of outstanding rice producers in the Philippines.

It is a way of motivating and showing appreciation for institutions, groups, and individuals for their contributions in its food sufficiency thrust.

The awarding rites will be announced soon./WDJ
