The body of a slain New People’s Army (NPA) insurgent was recovered yesterday morning at Barangay Riverside in Negros Occidental’s Isabela town.
Isabela police identified the slain insurgent as Randy Garsola, a member of the NPA’s Central Negros 1 Front.
Isabela Police Station chief, Police Captain Joseph Partidas, said Garsola’s remains were recovered after one of the recently surrendered NPA members told the authorities where the victim was buried.
Partidas said based on Ka Ray’s statement, Garsola told his fellow comrades that he wished to see his family.
However, the insurgent leaders allegedly denied his request and he was ordered to be put to death due to the NPA leadership’s fear that Garsola might reveal their location to the authorities.
Partidas said that Ka Ray witnessed how Garsola was killed in the neighboring town of La Libertad in Negros Oriental. The police chief added that Garsola’s remains were then brought to Barangay Riverside, Isabela and buried in a shallow grave.
The officers of the Philippine National Police-Scene of the Crime Operatives are set to perform a DNA test to determine if the cadaver they recovered was indeed Garsola./DGB, WDJ
