A suspected swindler was arrested 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, in Pavia, Iloilo’s Barangay Ungka II.
Entrapment operation conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Iloilo City Field Unit led to the arrest of 31-year-old Marie Trexie Joguilon, a resident of the said village.
According to Police Major Jess Baylon, one of Joguilon’s victims negotiated with her to pay for the P2,500 medication processing fee she was asking.
When the suspect received the money, the police arrested the suspect. Baylon said she will be facing swindling charges under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code or.
Baylon said that Joguilon reportedly offered a job in a restaurant in Iloilo City’s Mandurriao district through her Facebook account.
“In her Facebook account, she offered work in a restaurant and asked each applicant to pay P2,500 for medical processing and once her victims paid the amount she will block them in her Facebook account to cut their communication,” Baylon said.
There were at least 12 persons who reported to the CIDG-Iloilo City, claiming they have paid P2,500 to the suspect, Baylon added.
Joguilon was previously arrested in Jaro district for the same case but the case was dismissed./WDJ
