Fifteen were arrested on Saturay, November 28, for illegal cockfighting in the cities of Bago, Himamaylan and Sipalay.

Authorities said 10 persons were arrested in Purok Camingawan 2 located in Bago City’s Barangay Busay around 10:00 a.m.; four in Hacienda Silos in Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City around 3:45 p.m.; and one in Sipalay City’s Sitio Cantangka, Barangay Cayhagan.

Police officers recovered dead fighting cocks, gaffs and bet money.

The arrested persons are facing charges in violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974, signed by then-President Ferdinand Marcos./WDJ
