31 Bacolod brgys COVID-free

Thirty-one of the 61 barangays in Bacolod City are considered free from the coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, according to the Emergency Operations Center Task Force (EOC-TF).

EOC-TF said these barangays – 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, 33, 34, 36, 37, 38, 41, Sum-ag, and Punta Taytay – no longer have records of active cases or local transmission for the past two weeks.

“This is a big improvement because last month we still had 78 percent of our barangays with active cases, now it’s down to 49 percent,” said City Administrator Em Ang, who is also the executive director and deputy for admin and operations of the EOC-TF.

She added, “I hope that this will continue and it will result to further decline in the active cases in the city. We are expecting for more barangays to be COVID-free.”

Ang also reminded everyone to be disciplined enough to strictly observe the health protocols in order to “protect ourselves, our loved ones and the community.”

 

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, in a previous statement, said, “The fight against COVID-19 is the fight of every man, woman, and child. But it is only when we help each other and fight as one that we will also survive as one from this terrible scourge.”

To recall, on November 3, the EOC reported that there were 28 barangays in the city that were considered COVID-free for that two-week period./WDJ
