Ilongga volleyball standout Ana Hermosura has no regrets with her move to the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts even if it means her being away from her family.
The 14-year-old Hermosura said that it was not an easy decision to transfer to Thunderbolts from Sto. Niño Sur Elementary School but was only thinking about the future of her volleyball career.
“I have no regrets with my transfer to Bacolod Tay Tung because I know they will lead me into my goal of becoming a great volleyball player,” Hermosura said in an interview with Sports LANG podcast.
Hermosura added that there was not much adjustment from her since her transfer to the Thunderbolts since she was also away from her relatives when she represented Western Visayas elementary team in 2017 Palarong Pambansa in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
“Hindi naman naging mahirap para sa akin to overcome homesickness since nasanay na po ako nung nasa Palaro kami. ‘Yung sa billeting kami natutulog, so hindi na masyadong bago para sa akin ang lumipat sa Bacolod Tay Tung,” she said.
“Hindi rin ako nahirapan mag-adjust sa Bacolod Tay Tung since nagkaroon na ako ng exposure to play outside of my teammates when I represented Western Visayas in Palaro,” she added.
The five-foot-six Ilongga hitter said that she hopes to play for either University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses or Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles for college since it is a dream for her to play in the UAAP.
“Ang dream ko talaga is makahampang sa UAAP. Ang dream school ko is UST kasi nami ang volleyball program and academics, same with Ateneo,” she said. “But I am open to any UAAP school kung saan man magkaroon ng opportunity.”/ASC, WDJ
