W. Visayas COVID-19 recoveries rise to 16,094

Western Visayas logged 300 coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, recoveries, one of the highest number of recoveries recorded in the region in a single day.

This also brought the total COVID-19 recoveries in the region to 16,094 as reflected in the Department of Health Region 6’s (DOH-6) COVID Regional Case Bulletin No. 236 released on Wednesday, November 18.

Bacolod City posted the highest number of recoveries with 4,745 followed by Negros Occidental with 4,070 recoveries.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City logged 3,932 recoveries; Iloilo province – 2,062; Capiz – 891; Guimaras – 176; Aklan – 158; and Antique – 70.

As of Wednesday, the region also recorded 65 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total number of cases to 18,626, of which 2,036 are active cases.

Negros Occidental has the highest number of COVID-19 active cases with 1,101 followed by Iloilo Province with 333, Bacolod City with 279, Iloilo City with 220, Capiz with 47, Guimaras with 26, Aklan with 24, and Antique with 6.

DOH-6 data also showed that the majority or 79.86 percent of the active COVID-19 cases were asymptomatic while 14.98 percent were mild cases and 4.72 percent were severe.

Meantime, COVID-19-related deaths in the region are now 496 with eight additional fatalities recorded on Wednesday./WDJ
