Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is not yet keen on reopening the Mambukal Mountain Resort this year, according to provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod yesterday morning, Diaz said, in his own belief, the governor still has second thoughts about reopening the resort this year, as he doesn’t want to let the public freely roaming around the province during the pandemic.
Diaz said it is very likely that the governor will monitor the trend of the virus and it’s unlikely that the resort will be reopened anytime soon.
However, he pointed out the provincial government is eager to reopen the resort at the soonest possible time, but they don’t want to put the public’s health at risk.
He further added they will prioritize the public’s safety first rather than the income which they could get if the resort is opened.
The Mambukal Mountain Resort, which is located in Barangay Minoyan in the town of Murcia, had been made into a temporary quarantine facility since March of this year, shortly after the province was placed under the enhanced community quarantine./DGB, WDJ
