The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) confirmed that they currently have five active coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, cases among their ranks.

NOPPO public information officer, Police Lt. Abegael Donasco, said the active cases consisted of four police officers and one non-uniformed personnel.

Donasco did not reveal any further details as to where the five are assigned, although she confirmed that they are already placed on quarantine in their respective local government unit facilities.

Previously, a NOPPO cop died from complications brought by COVID-19.

The 51-year-old police chief master sergeant assigned in the Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station was the first COVID-related fatality for NOPPO.
