A village councilman was shot to death by riding-in-tandem suspects at the national road going to Barangay Lopez Jaena in Sagay City, Negros Occidental around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12.
Sagay City Police Station OIC, Police Major Albert Sy, said 39-year-old Mario Negro, the No. 1 “kagawad” of Barangay Lopez Jaena, sustained four gunshot wounds on the body. He was rushed to the Sagay City District Hospital where the attending physician declared him as “dead on arrival.”
Police investigation revealed that the victim, who is also an aircon and electric fan technician, was driving his tricycle when he was shot. His companion and helper, Justine Armenteros, was unharmed.
The suspects were wearing face masks and fled towards the city’s Barangay Bato after the incident.
Police recovered from the crime scene four empty shells of .45 caliber firearm.
Officers of the Sagay City Police Station have yet to identify the suspects and the motive in the killing./WDJ
