2020 PBA Philippine Cup: Magnolia snags 3rd straight win

Magnolia Hotshots cruised to its third consecutive win in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup with a 103-89 domination over the slumping TerraFirma Dyip on Thursday at the AUF Sports Arena & Cultural Center in Pampanga.

Paul Lee had another solid showing with 29 points, including five three-point conversions, while Rome Dela Rosa added 17 markers as the Hotshots netted its third straight win to improve to 4-4.

Ian Sangalang posted double-double 16 points and 10 rebounds, while former Dyip forward Jackson Corpuz finished with 10 markers and six boards for the Magnolia.

Down 28-38 in the second period, the Hotshots came up with three straight triples from Lee and Aris Dionisio to come to within 39-40. TerraFirma went up 45-39 but consecutive points from Lee and a Dionisio triple gave Magnolia a 48-46 halftime lead.

The Hotshots continued its run in the third period as baskets from Lee and Sangalang extended the lead to 60-48. It grew further to 76-60 on shots from Dela Rosa and Jackson Corpuz.

TerraFirma had a huge rally in the fourth to come to as close as 12 points but three-point baskets by Dela Rosa and an inside hit by Jiovani Jalalon widened the lead for Magnolia for good.

Jaymar Perez finished with 19 points, Reden Celda chipped in 16 markers, while Eric James Camson and Glenn Khobuntin added 14 and 10 as the Dyip remained winless in seven outings.
