The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) has approved the request of three local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental for a moratorium on the arrival of locally stranded individuals (LSIs).

RIATF Resolution No. 56, which was signed by RIATF Head Secretariat Christian Nagaynay, approved the request of Cadiz City for a five-day moratorium which started on Monday and will last until November 6.

The town of Manapla, meanwhile, will have a 14-day moratorium beginning November 5 until November 18.

Binalbagan town also started its 15-day moratorium on Monday until November 16.

Based on the RIATF’s resolution, the requests by the LGUs were approved in order to give way for the decongestion and disinfection of their respective quarantine facilities and to prepare for the new batch of LSIs who will arrive soon.

Previously, the request for a moratorium of arriving LSIs in the cities of Bago, San Carlos and Victorias were also approved.

As of November 1, Negros Occidental has a total of 4,692 confirmed cases, 1,574 of which were tagged as active cases.

The province also had a total of 3,039 recoveries and 79 deaths./DGB, WDJ
