Visit the departed anytime
Today is meant to be a celebration of Halloween. As a tradition for decades, Halloween events occur in different shopping malls. Some families also hold Halloween parties. But the Covid-19 pandemic restricted gatherings. Private and public cemeteries all over the country are also closed from October 29 to November 4.
With this restriction, one can visit their departed loved ones any time before or after All Souls’ Day.

Who will light up the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road?
Many are in a quandary as to the responsibility of the local governments units (LGUs) concerned on travelers and motorists passing by the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road, also known as the Circumferential Highway. These LGUs are the cities of Bacolod, Talisay and Silay.
The lacking lighting system along this critical highway is not the point in question. It is the safety that matters most to all. We heard nothing from the local government leaders as to why the highway remains to be the darkest of them all. Are these LGUs waiting for a massive road mishap to occur before they will do something? God forbid.

It’s ‘No Parking’ everywhere
Drivers are just so disappointed with the lack of understanding and consideration following Bacolod City traffic authorities’ declaration of many side streets as “No Parking” areas.
While the traffic authorities may be right in declaring parking restrictions, the motorists are also confused that there are no areas declared for permitted parking. As the statement goes, “For something that you restrict, you must provide.”
One could see so many “No Parking” signages but where are the secured parking areas? Some of these “No Parking” areas are located at the back of the provincial capitol, Gatuslao Street and San Juan Street.
Motorists are waiting for “Park Here” signages. Maybe city councilor Dindo Ramos should allot a little time to rethink about this. Cheers to you, Sir Dindo.

Covid updates on TV are like SEA Games scoreboard
Many have cracked jokes that the nationwide Covid-19 updating on television is like a running scoreboard in SEA Games or Olympics.
News coverage has been focusing on the number of Filipinos infected with the coronavirus in a day and they are using graphics like that of a score sheet of volleyball or basketball games. For me, this kind of media information causes stress and tension to the public.

Cheerful Mayor Jerry
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas is all smiles as Miss Iloilo won the crown of the Miss Universe Philippines, besting all the other candidates from all over the country. This is another proud story for the city and province of Iloilo.
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo hails from Balasan, a modest town in the northern part of Iloilo.
Congratulations and mabuhay, Iloilo!
