Floods brought by Typhoon “Quinta” dealt a P36 million worth of damages in crops and livestock in Negros Occidental.

Provincial agriculturist, Atty. Japhet Masculino, reported that damages in rice fields and other crops in the cities of Bago, Cadiz and Sipalay, as well as municipalities of Hinoba-an, Moises Padill and Isabela have reached almost P35 million.

But Masculino expects the amount to increase as other local government units affected by floods have yet to submit their reports to his office.

Dr. Renante Decena, provincial veterinarian, also reported more than P1 million worth of damage to livestock in areas of Hinobaan, Moises Padilla, Isabela, Binalbagan, Valladolid, San Enrique, and the cities of Bago and La Carlota.

Majority of livestock which include cows, carabaos, gamefowls, pigs, and goats died due to drowning./DGB, WDJ
