A man was shot dead Tuesday evening, October 6, in his house at Sitio Hinagupitan in Escalante City’s Barangay Dian-ay.  

Escalante City police said the victim identified as 65-year-old Warlito Pabuaya died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigation revealed that Pabuaya was inside their house preparing for dinner with his wife when a gunshot was heard. Police said the wife then saw her husband about to collapse and immediately shouted for help.

The suspect was believed to be hiding inside the sugarcane plantation at the back of the victim’s house and was more or less three meters from where the victim was, police added.
