Mayor Evelio Leonardia has agreed with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), through its Regional Director Lea Delfinado, that the Regional Evacuation Center built by the DPWH at Progreso Village in Barangay Vista Alegre will be re-purposed into another isolation facility for 45 asymptomatic and mild Covid-positive patients.

Since the said evacuation center has not yet been officially turned over to the city, the DPWH will fund and handle the re-purposing works for it – estimated at P4 million.

Leonardia said the city will help work out the provisions for water and electric power to the center.

The mayor also pointed out to Delfinado that a roofed walk has to be constructed to connect the center to the comfort room facility located outside the building.

The city plans to construct additional comfort room facilities there because these amenities were not built into the design of the center when it was constructed originally for evacuation purposes./WDJ
