Being recruited to play for the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) was an answered prayer for Negrense forward Aldave Dale Canoy.

The Bacolod City-native Canoy told Watchmen Daily Journal on Tuesday that, even if he is only eligible to play for the Tigers in UAAP Season 84 later next year, he is making sure that he will be in shape.
“Excited na akong makalaro doon. Kahit na next year pa ako eligible to play,” said Canoy, a former standout of the STI-West Negros University Mustangs before being recruited by the Tigers.
“Nagpapasalamat lang ako sa UST at bibigyan nila ako ng opportunity na makalaro sa Manila. Answered prayer para sa akin ito,” he added. “Basta ako handa ako sa kung ano ang ipapagawa ni coach.”
The 6-foot-1 Canoy could be in for huge minutes for Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo next season with the departure of Crispin John Cansino, Brent Paraiso, Ira Bataller, and Rhenz Abando.
“Canoy is a welcome addition to the Growling Tigers as he plays like Rhenz (Abando) but we will convert him to shooting guard,” said Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo. “I already saw his talent when he was still in high school there in Bacolod City.”/ASC, WDJ
