After representing Negros Occidental in regional meets as well as in Batang Pinoy, Bacolodnon Franzine Alamo has agreed to bring her jumping prowess to Metro Manila.

Alamo has agreed to continue her high school career with the University of the East (UE) Junior Lady Warriors in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) from Romanito P. Maravilla National High School.
Alamo admitted it was not easy for her to leave Romanito as well as her coaches Addy and Miguel Arca, but the offer from the Junior Lady Warriors head coach Christopher Balcoba was too hard to pass up.
“Masakit din para sa akin na iwan si coach dahil five years din kaming magkakasama. I am thankful at natanggap nila at naintindihan ‘yung decision ko to try my luck in Manila,” Alamo said.
Alamo shared that it was her friend and fellow Junior Lady Warriors’ Irene Magcalayo who made possible her entry to the squad after her supposed Palarong Pambansa stint was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Si Irene ‘yung nag contact sa akin convincing me to go to UE for senior high school dahil sabi niya maganda ang academics doon. Also siya din ‘yung nagsabi sa akin na may slot allotted for me sa akin si coach Chris,” Alamo said.
“I am also thankful that my parents did not think twice na payagan ako na makalaro for UE. Of course it’s a blessing from God na makapasok ako sa UE at pagbubutihan ko ito,” she added.
Alamo is set to compete on her pet events in long jump, triple jump as well as in relay with the Junior Lady Warriors./ASC, WDJ
