Negrense guard Mark Nonoy, Rhenz Abando and Vince Deo Cuajao have no plans to leave the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers despite being pirated by several UAAP and NCAA-based schools.
Jax Chua of Phenom Sports Management, who handles the careers of the said players, said they are not entertaining the offers of other schools who are trying to recruit the three.
“Wala kaming plano na umalis sa UST,” Chua said. “I must admit madaming may gusto (na kumuha kila Abando, Nonoy at Cuajao) pero stay put tayo sa UST.”
“Wala naman kaming problem with how coach Aldin treated them. Even there in Sorsogon, they were well taken care off naman,” added Chua, who also owns the Basilan Steel team in Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
With the Growling Tigers currently facing problems with its supposed quarantine protocol violation with its “Sorsogon bubble,” various rumors surfaced online that Abando and Nonoy are headed to new schools.
For Abando, this was not his first time to be linked in school-transfer rumors after being allegedly pirated before by the National University Bulldogs midway in the UAAP Season 82 men’s basketball./ASC, WDJ
