A man was arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Cauayan town’s Barangay Caliling on Wednesday.

Police report showed three .45-caliber pistols with several live bullets were seized from 35-year-old Rene Querpo of Purok 10, Barangay Caliling, Cauayan.

Querpo’s apprehension was staged on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Condrado Estreller Jr. of 6th Judicial Region, Municipal Trial Court in Cauayan, Negros Occidental dated August 24, 2020.

The suspect was detained in the lockup cell of the Cauayan Police Station. Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act will be filed against Querpo./WDJ
