The Bais City Bay and Tambobo Bay of Siaton in Negros Oriental were tested positive for red tide toxin, according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
BFAR warned that all types of shellfish and alamang from the said bays are not safe for consumption.
However, BFAR clarified that fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs from the said bays are still safe to consume as long as they are fresh and properly washed and their internal organs such as gills and intestines are cautiously removed.
On the latest laboratory result, shellfish poison also hit the coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; Cancabato Bay in Tacloban, Leyte; Balite Bay, Mati City in Davao Oriental; and Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur./DGB, WDJ
