Murcia town Mayor Gerry Rojas ordered the five-day lockdown of the municipal hall effective today after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019, or Covid-19.
Rojas said the employee is a resident of Bacolod City and assigned at the Mayor’s Office.
He added that all those who have come in contact with the employee were tested negative from the deadly virus.
Despite the lockdown, the operations of the Municipal Health Office, Disaster Risk Management Office and municipal police station will continue.
Meanwhile, La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalando-on has tested negative for Covid-19.
However, two more city employees, a barangay captain, and some church members have tested positive for the virus.
Jalando-on said his driver and a clerk at the executive assistant’s office have also tested positive for the virus.
To recall, the La Carlota City Hall complex has been placed under a one-week lockdown from August 10 to 16 after an executive assistant of the mayor got infected with Covid-19.
The executive assistant was swabbed on August 6 and got the result for Covid-19 the next day./DGB, WDJ
