The Department of Agriculture is set to bring “Kadiwa on Wheels” to Iloilo City tomorrow, March 31. Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division chief Maria Teresa Solis called the initiative “an effort to provide nutritious foods to the consuming public and at the same time giving marketing opportunities to our farmers.”
The department implemented the move after farmers expressed difficulties in selling their goods due to ongoing quarantine measures. However, Local Economic Enterprise Office chief Ariel Castañeda said they have yet to determine locations to set up the mobile market.
“We have already allowed some farmers associations to market their produce every Friday at the [Western Visayas Agricultural Research Center],” Solis added.
Prior to “Kadiwa on Wheels,” the department also conducted the Champion Farmers Program last Friday in Lambunao./WDJ
