The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) announced motorcycle backriders will not be permitted entry at checkpoints amid ongoing implementation of an enhanced community quarantine in response to ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19. According to IPPO director, Police Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas, backriding contradicts social distancing measures advised by the World Health Organization.
The law enforcement official made the announcement after reportedly receiving complaints from motorcycle backriders who were denied access and apprehended.
The policy also applies to family members.
Meanwhile, Lucas said couriers must carry a “food pass,” which are issued by the Department of Agriculture of the area where their company is based.
The IPPO official added, despite holding a food pass, police can still apprehend couriers if their delivery van is found carrying unauthorized passengers or those with a fever; additionally, if the pass bears the signature other than those authorized by Department of Agriculture Memorandum Circular No. 7./WDJ
