Ilongga athlete Alexie Mae Caimoso Brooks was recently chosen to be part of the national athletics training pool. She will be looking to qualify for the heptathlon at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
“To be honest, I was surprised when I was told that I was named as part of the national training pool but maybe they saw the potential in me or maybe they saw my previous matches,” the Leon native said. “I have really worked so hard the past years-It’s a dream.”
“Not everyone is given this kind of opportunity and I will continue to work hard,” she added. “I believe I can do it.”
Brooks previously won gold in the high jump at the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet and Palarong Pambansa./ASC, WDJ
