A doctor recently became Aklan’s third confirmed case of the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19. Last Friday, Dr. Cornelio Cuachon of the Aklan Provincial Health Office said all three patients are currently in stable condition. The other two cases were identified as senior citizens from Libacao and Kalibo.
“Contact tracing is now being done [for] those who [have] been in touch [with] the patients [over] the last two weeks,” the provincial official explained. “The frontliner is now being treated at Aklan Provincial Hospital.”
“One of the senior citizens was at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital in Kalibo, [while the other] senior citizen at home in Libacao alone,” he added.
The Malay municipal government temporarily closed the Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital, also referred to as the Boracay District Hospital, after an employee was quarantined.
In addition, Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores suspended all public transportation in the province until April 14, while Kalibo Mayor William Lachica restricted entry into Kalibo to frontliners and employees who work in Kalibo./WDJ
