In response to a social media post reporting Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas had come into contact with an individual who tested positive for the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, and was subsequently tested, the mayor denied the claims.
“Hindi matuod nga nagpatest ako para sa COVID-19 kag hindi man matuod nga naka close contact ako sa isa ka tawo nga positibo sa nasambit nga virus (It is not true that I was tested for Covid-19 nor did I make close contact with a person who contracted the virus),” he wrote on social media.
Treñas noted, if such information were true, he would have made a public announcement.
The post in question, which has since been taken down, was published by a certain Cessa Bales, who wrote: “Let’s pray for Mayor Jerry Treñas as he is undergoing a test for he had a close contact with a person who is positive with Covid-19.”
The user claimed to have heard the news on the radio.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Public Safety and Transportation Management Office head Jeck Conlu said the account will be investigated./WDJ
