With this year’s Summer Olympics postponed until 2021, Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Tolentino said he will plead for a delayed Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), which are tentatively scheduled to take place in Vietnam from November 21 to December 2, 2021. He expressed hopes for a “pre-Christmas” event in order to give athletes from the Philippines more time to transition from the Olympics to the SEA Games.
“We will recommend that Vietnam hosts the 31st SEA Games during the latter part of the year,” the Cavite congressman said.
The Vietnam Olympic Committee is set to meet with other Olympics committees from May 20 to 21 to present their plans for the SEA Games.
Aside from the Philippines and Vietnam, other competing countries include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Timor-Leste./ASC, WDJ
