After the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) arrested 120 individuals between March 22 and 24 for violations to the curfew and social distancing policies imposed due to ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, ICPO director, Police Eric Dampal, called on city residents to comply by the rules.
“We are calling sa lahat ng tao sa Iloilo City please follow the curfew para hindi kayo arestuhin ng mg pulis ko (We are calling on the people of Iloilo City to follow the curfew in order to avoid being arrested by my police officers),” the law enforcement official urged. “Wala tayong magawa lahat tayo apektado, lahat tayo naghihirap, sana mag-cooperate tayo kasi iisang mission lang tayo, to end the Covid-19 (There is nothing more we can do since we are all affected and facing these difficulties, we must cooperate since we are all on the same mission, to end Covid-19).”
He also warned, repeat offenders will face charges.
For the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), they apprehended 108 violators between March 21 and 24.
“This is one measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and we should sternly implement it,” said IPPO director, Police Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas.
Meanwhile, between March 15 and 21, Bacolod City nabbed more than three times the ICPO and IPPO combined, apprehending 728 curfew violators./WDJ
