After recording their first confirmed case of the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, earlier this week, the Iloilo City government said contact tracing has begun. Department of Health-Region VI (DOH-6) director, Dr. Marlyn Convocar, recently revealed a 61-year-old female from Iloilo City with a travel history to Manila tested positive for the virus.
“Rest assured nga ang tanan nga plano for that district or kon sa diin man na sya nga barangay gina-obra na naton (Rest assured, we will work with the district or whichever barangay they went),” affirmed Iloilo City focl person for Covid-19, Dr. Roland Jay Fortuna. “May ginpadala na ta nga sanitation team kag ongoing ang contact tracing (We have sent a sanitation team for the ongoing contact tracing).”
However, in an effort to avoid a panic, he refused to name the barangay where the patient resides.
Aside from the patient in Iloilo City, DOH-6 also revealed a 45-year-old male from Jamindan, Capiz, also with a travel history to Manila, tested positive.
The latest development brings the region’s total number of confirmed cases to four after a 56-year-old man in Bacolod City and 65-year-old man from Guimbal earlier tested positive.
The Iloilo City patient is currently confined at the Medical City where they are said to be in stable condition./WDJ
