Green Archers United announced they will not be participating in the upcoming Philippines Football League (PFL) after failing consultations with sponsors and failure to secure necessary media coverage.
“We were hopeful that the media coverage promised in the 2019 PFL season would materialize, unfortunately, this did not happen,” the club explained in a statement. “[This] has put [into] question the viability and sustainability of fielding a team and participating this year.”
After a restructuring that saw the Philippines Football League rebranded as the Philippine Premier League, then reverted back to the original name, the club said they were promised a certain amount of “media mileage.”
“Green Archers United will continue other football projects and programs, which we have built over the past 10 years in cooperation with our sponsors as well as some new initiatives we have in mind that will have greater impact [on] the development of Philippine football,” the club added./ASC, WDJ
