P9,145,000 in cash assistance for Iloilo farmers from the Department of Agriculture-Region VI, the first batch of a total P232,580,000 that is expected to benefit 46,516 farmers, recently disbursed. The first and fifth legislative districts received their allocations on Monday; while the second, third, and fourth districts either received their amounts yesterday or will have it by today.

Regional Director Remelyn R. Recoter said each beneficiary is eligible for P5,000 each.

“I have instructed our two agricultural program coordinating officers, in coordination with local chief executives for the province of Iloilo, to turnover to each municipal agriculturist/municipal agricultural officers their allocations for them to distribute to each farmer-beneficiary,” the regional official stated.

According to Regional Operations Technical Director Rene B. Famoso, the department identified farmers tilling land between a half-hectare and two hectares of land./WDJ
