A sibling of the Tayasan town councilor who tested positive and later succumbed to the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, has fallen ill. Negros Oriental Covid-19 Incident Command System commander, Dr. Liland Estacion, said the town official’s 70-year-old brother complained of breathing difficulties and was rushed to a private hospital.
She said the patient has been designated as “under investigation” and a swab test has already been performed.
Despite exhibiting breathing difficulties, Estacion said the patient remains stable and is not using a ventilator.
She added, the patient had earlier helped transport the late councilor to the hospital.
Last week, the municipal official, identified as PH39 by the Department of Health, died on March 15 at the Silliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete City.
The councilor had earlier travelled to Manila on February 26 to attend the Philippine Councilors League national convention and, before returning to Tayasan on March 1, they visited Greenhills in San Juan City, Metro Manila.
The councilor was brought to a hospital on March 7 and tested on March 9./DGB, WDJ
