After winning his second Mr. Football Award at this year’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Annual Awards, which took place earlier this month, March 6, at the Manila Hotel, Ceres-Negros FC midfielder Stephan Schröck credited his teammates at the Bacolod City-based club, along with the Philippine men’s national football team, the Azkals.
He credited his time with the Azkals in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers, while highlighting last year’s season with Ceres FC.
“[Ceres] had an unbelievable year,” the midfielder said. “Unbeaten in the league, unbeaten in the cup, and made it almost to the [ASEAN Zone] finals again of the AFC cup.”
“I’m always very, very grateful to everyone who went with me through this path not only for last year but over the last 20 years,” he added. “I’m also very grateful, especially, to the management of both teams, the coaches, the people behind the teams, and those who take care of Philippine football.”
