Amid ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, Negros Occidental provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz III, said, with the current state of medical facilities in the province, they are limited when it comes to treating patients.
“We cannot afford that non-Negrenses get sick here and we shoulder them; leaving us with the possibility of having nothing left for our own people,” he explained. “We should understand that our medical facilities are only so-so.”
The provincial official said travel should be discouraged, noting, “If it’s possible, the public should just stay where they are right now.”
Meanwhile, he said the provincial government will buy more thermal kits and personal protective equipment for those manning the borders, along with the district hospitals earlier identified as containment areas for patients testing positive for the virus./DGB, WDJ
