Amid ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, the UAAP is considering a revision to their tournament format. In a radio interview, UAAP executive director, Atty. Rebo Saguisag, said they will make adjustments to tournament formats as they hope to finish the 82nd UAAP Season before June 1.

“The Season 82 schedule should not spill over to Season 83,” the UAAP official explained. “Maybe we have a two-week tournament, a shortened window.”

“We will continue to coordinate with lead government agencies to determine the protocols for the safety of everyone in or connected with the UAAP community,” he added.

Football and volleyball will be particularly affected as their respective seasons already commenced before they were later suspended.

“UAAP intends to do the greater good for the greater number without disregarding the hard work of its coaches and student-athletes,” Saguisag noted. “We thank you for your patience and understanding in this most trying of times.”/ASC, WDJ
