Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia ordered the immediate suspension of all classes for both public and private schools over the weekend amid concerns surrounding the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19.
Executive Order No. 20, repealed two earlier executive orders issued by the mayor.
The latest directive calls on school officials to determine how they would undertake certain strategies for their student’s education during the suspended period.
The mayor previously issued four executive orders declaring an early end to the school year in Bacolod City, along with suspending commencement exercises at all levels.
Under the earlier order, preschool to secondary level classes were supposed to end on March 20; while some private schools, including those in the tertiary level, will end classes on March 27./DGB, WDJ
