Panay provinces strengthen

travel restrictions

Due to the recently-imposed community quarantine over Metro Manila, beginning tomorrow, March 17, the Antique provincial government will seal their borders for 14 days as a means of controlling movement in and out of the province amid ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19.
“I decided with Rep. Loren Legarda nga may 14 days kami nga lockdown or border restrictions (I decided on the 14-day lockdown, or border restriction, with Antique Congresswoman Loren Legarda),” explained Governor Rhodora Cadiao.
Ahead of the community quarantine, many in Metro Manila decided to travel home.
“Kadamo sang mga Antiqueños nga nagpauli halin sa Manila (There are many Antique residents coming home from Manila),” the governor added.
She explained, the restrictions are consistent with national policies and guidelines.
Meanwhile, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. issued an executive order restricting travel into the province until April 14. However, the order exempts government officials and employees coming to perform professional duties, medical personnel deployed to implement Covid-19 prevention functions, and Iloilo residents returning home.
“Persons who enter the province in violation of the restriction shall be placed under quarantine for 14 days,” the order stated.
In addition, Aklan Governor Florencio T. Miraflores issued an order imposing additional restrictions.
His directive limits entry to local residents, delivery personnel, those coming in from overseas with no history of visiting areas affected by the virus, medical professionals working in the province, returning medical personnel or government officials, and various officials deployed to the province.
The order is valid until April 15./WDJ
