A man was killed Thursday evening after he was struck by a bus in Barangay Poblacion, located in San Enrique, Negros Occidental. Authorities identified the fatality as 51-year-old Ronilo Chin of the said neighborhood.
According to police, he was crossing the street around 8:30 p.m. when he was struck by the vehicle, which was driven by 51-year-old Jonathan Bartolome, and dragged for about 15 meters.
The victim was rushed to Valladolid District Hospital and was declared dead 15 minutes after he was brought to the facility by the San Enrique Rescue Team.
The driver surrendered to local police and is detained at the San Enrique Municipal Police Station.
Police are currently waiting for representation from the bus company to negotiate a settlement with Chin’s family./WDJ
