A man was found dead last Thursday night in Talisay City’s Barangay Matab-ang. Authorities identified the fatality as 38-year-old Rocky Divinagracia Lopez of Bacolod City’s Barangay Alijis.
Based on initial investigations by Talisay City police, they received a call from a concerned citizen claiming to have heard six gunshots from the neighborhood’s Hacienda Pait and saw a southbound vehicle speed away. Police immediately proceeded to the area and discovered the victim’s remains with a placard that read: “Sorry nd na ko kapangawat kag kapang hold-up kag baligya shabu. Goodbye earth.”
Aside from gunshot wounds across the victim’s body, police believe he may have been tortured as several burns, reportedly made by a cigarette, were seen on his face.
Police recovered two empty .45 caliber shells and one unidentified slug from the crime scene.
Meanwhile, a background check on the victim showed he was previously imprisoned for an unspecified case and was released in 2018.
