Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran recently revealed the city currently has one person under investigation for the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, and they are confined and quarantined at one of the hospitals in the city. The city official, who heads the Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force Against Novel Coronavirus, said the patient is a female with a travel history to Singapore.
The patient arrived on February 26 and exhibited symptoms, such as a sore throat and fever, on March 6.
A swab sample has since been taken and confirmatory tests are being done at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.
Last month, the city recorded several patients under investigation who were subsequently discharged after confirmatory tests came back negative for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Familiaran announced eight of the 23 patients under monitoring in the city have completed their 14-day quarantine; however, four have since been added to the list.
He added, the EB Magalona resident reported as being under investigation was downgraded to under monitoring after their confirmatory test came back negative./DGB, WDJ
