Iloilo City currently has 82
patients under monitoring
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas yesterday met with members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod to propose an ordinance calling on patients under monitoring for the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, to undergo voluntary quarantine.
“Waay man kita gahambal nga positive na sila but we are asking them to go on voluntary quarantine para kon may magwa gid man nga sintoma then they will be referred to the proper hospital (We are not telling them they tested positive but we are asking for them to go on voluntary quarantine and, if symptoms arise, they will be referred to the proper hospital),” the mayor explained. “Kinanglan lang aton sang ordinansa para may ara man kita force para magpatuman sini nga voluntary quarantine (We need the ordinance in order to implement the voluntary quarantine).”
“We are going to ask [for] support [from] the PNP (Philippine National Police) to enforce the voluntary quarantine even without the ordinance,” he added. “Kon may ordinansa na mas manami pa gid (It will be even better with an ordinance).”
Treñas said those who refuse to voluntarily quarantine will be escorted by police to their home.
According to data as of yesterday, the city currently has 82 patients under monitoring, most of whom are overseas Filipino workers from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and other areas affected by the virus.
Meanwhile, the mayor said he also plans to conduct a meeting on protocols on how to deal with such patients./WDJ
