After Bacolod City experienced flooding following heavy rains last Friday, Bacolod City lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya said he asked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bacolod District Office to check on drainage work along the city’s national roads.
The congressman said, while there was drainage work undertaken, they have to look at the volume of rainfall as well as the coinciding high tide.
He also said DPWH should look into why the existing flood wall in Barangay Mandalagan overflowed, which resulted in heavy flooding in front of Robinsons Place Bacolod.
Gasataya said he hopes DPWH can finish inspections and provide recommendations as soon as possible.
Following the completion of a long-term flood control project along Lacson Street towards the end of 2018, Bacolod City residents were previously told that flooding along the city’s main roads would “be a thing of the past.”/DGB, WDJ
