Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson recently signed a memorandum of agreement with Manapla’s Dr. Ramon B. Gustilo Hospital for the facility to provide orthopedic procedures not covered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, or PhilHealth, to low-income patients.
“The high cost of orthopedic supplies and procedures leaves indigent Negrosanons in dire need of financial assistance to shoulder costs not covered by the state provided health insurance,” the agreement noted. “[The] Dr. Ramon B. Gustilo Hospital has expressed willingness to cater to indigent ‘ortho’ patients.”
In addition, the province will provide financial assistance to low-income patients as well as refer patients to the hospital.
The signing was held at the Governor’s Office./WDJ
